Special Olympics at CR South: The Special Olympics was started almost 50 years ago by Eunice Kennedy Shriver as a day camp for children with Intellectual Disabilities at her home. Her ultimate vision was people with Intellectual Disabilities could all compete and unify the public that come from all different situations. The organization now provides year round training and competitions in a variety of sports to over 5 million athletes worldwide.
Special Olympics of Bucks County provides individuals in our community a variety of athletic opportunities. Find more information about what is offered in the community here.
There are many ways to get involved with Special Olympics at CR South
1. As an Athlete at Special Olympics of Bucks County Track & Field Event - this is a one day event held in the spring. Athletes with Special Needs compete against other schools with the help and support of a buddy. Find out more here.
2. As a Volunteer at Special Olympics of Bucks County Track & Field Event - volunteer duties range from being a Buddy, assisting with timing and events, set up & clean up, and more. Volunteers are also needed after school for training.
3. As an Athlete for CR South Unified Track & Field Team. Athletes with and without special needs compete as teammates against other school's Unified Teams in a PIAA supported competitive Spring Track Program. Find out more here.
