Since its founding in 1953, the SHH has grown to over 2,500 national and international chapters. The mission of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and Portuguese and to promote interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.   Nuestro Capítulo The Council Rock High School South chapter of the SHH was established in 2002 with the opening of our high school. The chapter is named for Benito Pérez Galdós, a nineteenth-century Spanish novelist and playwright. He is considered to be second only to Cervantes in stature and prestige in the canon of Spanish literature. Pérez Galdós was inducted into the Real Academia Española in 1897.   Our chapter meets monthly and regularly engages in service to our community and our school. We also ensure the continued enthusiasm for language learning and appreciation of culture through cultural activities.    Requisitos To become a member of the Benito Pérez Galdós chapter of the SHH, applicants must have completed three years of honors-level Spanish. They must also demonstrate high academic achievement in their Spanish courses, a passion for Hispanic culture, and strength of character. Continued membership is contingent upon continued enrollment and academic achievement in honors or AP-level Spanish courses. Please contact Sra. Weinstock for questions or concerns.
