Asian Heritage Club focuses on spreading diversity and educating the student body at Council Rock South! At AHC, students can learn about the cultures of Asian countries ranging from Pakistan to Japan to Indonesia and all the small islands and territories in between. Monthly meetings include educational presentations as well as fun activities and a chance to try different Asian cuisines as well as special meetings to celebrate big Asian holidays such as Chinese New Year, Eid, and Holi!

Club Name: Concert Band
Provides playing and performance opportunities for 9-12 grade band students not participating in the marching program. A wide variety of music literature and styles is involved. Participation is required in a limited number of public performances and selected evening rehearsals. Acceptance in the band is based on (1) individual competence on a band instrument, and (2) registration of concert band as a course on a student’s roster. The Golden Wings Theatre Company is the school’s drama club. Each year the group presents at least two major productions. Every other year a major musical is produced in cooperation with the music department. Club members are involved in producing professional-quality theatre, fund raising, and social activities. Club Name: Jazz Lab Band
Jazz Lab Band membership (grades 9-12) is by audition. Announced yearly, auditions are held in the fall of the school year. Students are exposed to a wide variety of jazz literature and styles. Improvisation opportunities are provided and jazz band ensemble playing is stressed. The band performs for selected school activities and public events. Rehearsals are once per week (2:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.). Attendance at performances is mandatory.

Get in touch with your inner gladiator and join the Latin club! Meet other kids who appreciate ancient Rome and her language. This club is open to ALL students, not just those enrolled in a Latin class. Fun meetings involve celebrating Roman holidays, learning about Roman culture, feasting, and merriment. The year culminates in a field day for all members.

Letters of Love was started a few years ago by a high school student who wanted to help children in hospitals fighting cancer. Club Name: Marching/Concert Band
Marching/concert band participants may range from grade 9 to grade 12. Membership is by pre-registration for all woodwinds and brasses at course selection time. Membership in the percussion section of the band also requires an audition in the spring preceding the school year. In May of the preceding school year, all band members receive a full rehearsal and performance schedule.

The Mathematics Honor Society is made up of students who have completed and excelled in 3 or more math classes at Council Rock High School South. The society provides 1 on 1 tutoring during math clinic days and holds bake sales after school wide math competitions. Club Name: Mathletes
The purpose of this organization is to further the study of mathematics among students. C.R. mathletes compete in two leagues - The Bucks County League (8 teams) and The Atlantic Pacific League (a mail-in league of 300 teams). Individual and team awards are presented yearly when appropriate. Although the club is open to all students, grades 9-12, members must have a background in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. Practice sessions are held approximately one per week.

The Mini-THON club supports Four Diamonds Fund. Modeled after the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), which has been making a difference in the lives of childhood cancer patients and their families since 1993. Four Diamonds Mini-THONs are interactive events for students of all ages that inspire teamwork, leadership and creativity, while empowering youth and young adults through community service to fight to conquer childhood cancer.

For students passionate about the law, public speaking, or problem solving, Mock Trial can be an extremely fulfilling extracurricular activity to pursue. Each year, thousands of students prepare legal cases that they then present, as a team, in front of a judge. This process lends itself to the development of many crucial skills, from teamwork, to critical analysis, to writing, and beyond. As such, joining your high school Mock Trial team can be a worthwhile pursuit.

Model UN is designed to reflect the functions and arguments of the real United Nations, and the difficulties their delegates face in making global decisions in the quest for world peace well-being. The club is best suited for students interested in international issues from a diplomatic point of view. The members attend a three day conference in which they are given the chance to actively participate in speeches, discussions, and the creating of documents relating to a few select issues.

Club Name: Operation Bluebeary
We know that life in the hospital can get boring and lonely for kids who are missing out on school and seeing their friends every day. Our mission is to bring a smile to as many hospitalized children as possible by sending them one of our Blue Bears. All of the funds that are raised go directly into making and shipping these bears to the kids. We partner with a few local hospitals and reach as many patients as possible.

Club Name: Orchestra
Orchestra membership is open (grades 9 -12) to violin, viola, cello, or double bass players. Brass, woodwind, and percussion players will be admitted with the approval of the director. Standard symphonic literature will be studied, as well as lighter pop and show selections. The orchestra program begins in September and operates throughout the entire school year, meeting on alternate days throughout the school year. Graduation credit and a letter grade are awarded for participation.

Club Name: Peer Mentors
Our Peer Mentoring Program goal is to help 9th graders transition into South. The bulk of the work is in September through mid-November but some individual mentoring may be ongoing throughout the year. Peer Mentors adopt a homeroom along with at least one other Peer Mentor. Peer Mentors work cooperatively with the homeroom teacher. Peer Mentors make regular visits to their adopted homeroom and run planned activities and/or discussion topics with the freshmen.

Political Science Club is designed for students who are interested in issues concerning American politics. Most meetings consist of a topic or two that is current and hot in the news. Club Name: Reading Olympics
Each year teams from schools across Bucks County participate in a Reading Olympics competition, which occurs in the spring. Members of each team read books from a selected list and then compete by answering questions about the books with students their own age. The book list includes titles from many genres. Team meetings consist of an organizational meeting at the beginning of the school year, occasional informal meetings to check on team progress, and the competition.

Club Name: Scholars Bowl Team
This is a team which represents Council Rock High School in Bucks County high school academic team competition. The winter of the county competition progresses to the Pennsylvania academic team competition in Harrisburg. The winning team at the state level progresses to the national competition. Try-outs for the team begin in September. All students are eligible. They need not be “experts” in all subject areas. Practices are usually once a week until the county or state competitions.

Science Fair Club promotes interest in and appreciation of the scientific method. Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica - To become a member of the Benito Pérez Galdós chapter of the SHH, applicants must have completed three years of honors-level Spanish. They must also demonstrate high academic achievement in their Spanish courses. Continued membership is contingent upon continued enrollment and academic achievement in honors or AP-level Spanish courses. Member induction takes place every spring. SHH has offered, since 2009, one or two small scholarships to graduating sr members.

This organization is the student governing body of Council Rock High School. Its members include class officers, Student Advisory Board, I.U. Club Name: Symphonic Band
Symphonic Band membership (grades 11-12) is selected by ability from the CR South Marching Band. All members must audition. The band meets three times per week during the school day. Graduation credit and a letter grade are awarded for participation. A minimum of extra rehearsals are held prior to major performances. All members must take part in marching and concert band activities throughout the year. This ensemble may take part in Music Festivals or competitions.

Club Name: Symphonic Choir
Membership is open to students, grades 10 - 12, who have completed at least one year of Chorale and have met the criteria to advance into the ensemble. Students must be interested in advancing their individual vocal and choral development with an emphasis on tone production, breathing, diction, musicality, and music reading proficiency. A variety of advanced chorale literature, ranging from Renaissance to contemporary, will be studied and performed in concert.

Members of the Hawk Eye staff produce South’s student newspaper. The staff meets weekly after school in room 256. Activities continue from September through June with points of emphasis including writing (straight news, sports, feature, editorial, opinion, entertainment, and humor), PageMaker design and layout, production, advertising, and photography. Artists and cartoonists are welcome.

Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) empowers veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations. In 2007, 1st Lt. Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives.

Winter Guard membership is open to students in grades 9 – 12. The Winter Guard is an integral part of the South Marching Band. Admission to the group is by audition in the spring for the following school year. Students who audition should be able to dance, use multiple equipment, and silk flags. Currently the Winter Guard is divided into three groups: rifles, flags and honor guard.

Club Name: South Vocal Ensemble (SVE) grades 9-12
S.V.E. is an auditioned mixed choral group that performs a wide variety of music ranging from 14th century works to contemporary pop and jazz compositions. The group rehearses twice a week after school or in the evenings and performs at numerous community functions, competitions, and adjudications. In order to establish a high standard and reputation for quality, all scheduled rehearsals and performances are mandatory.

Each class in grades 9 through 12 engages in a wide variety of activities during the year. Class advisors welcome needed help and involvement from students. Many of the activities are coordinated by class committees. Traditionally, all classes engage in Spirit Week and compete for top honors at Blue, White & Gold Night. Each class sponsors several activities each year, dances, class trips, proms, etc.
