American Mathematics Competition
The American Mathematics Competition is given at Council Rock South each year. The AMC contests are sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America, and are considered to be a valuable stimulus to student interest in mathematics.
The AMC 10 is given to recommended 9th and 10th graders. The AMC 12 is given to recommended 11th and 12th graders. The contest consists of 25 multiple choice questions taken in a 75 minute period. The problems on the contest are difficult, but are designed to be within reach. Problems are meant to be more challenging than those routinely encountered in mathematics courses. Recommended students will enjoy challenging themselves with mathematics that is new, different, and "outside the box." The next AMC contest will be given on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024.
